  • ๐Ÿณ 1 Small frying pan (for the spinach)

  • ๐Ÿฅฃ 1 Microwave-safe bowl (for the asparagus)

  • ๐Ÿฅ„ 1 Large stirring spoon

  • ๐Ÿ”ช 1 Butter knife (round tip)

  • ๐Ÿ›น 1 Cutting board

  • ๐Ÿงค 1 Oven mitt


๐Ÿ›’ THE INGREDIENTS

Choose Your Side!

  • ๐Ÿงช Celery stalks 3 long pieces (washed and dried)

  • ๐Ÿง€ Cheese spread 3 tablespoons (Cheez Whiz or Pimento cheese)

  • ๐Ÿฅœ Peanut butter 3 tablespoons (alternative filling)

  • ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Paprika 1 small pinch

  • ๐Ÿฅฌ Canned spinach 1 can (drained)

  • ๐ŸŽ White vinegar 1 teaspoon

  • ๐Ÿค Sugar 1 small pinch

  • ๐Ÿงช Canned asparagus 1 tin (drained)

  • ๐Ÿฅ› Evaporated milk 2 tablespoons

  • ๐Ÿงˆ Margarine 1 teaspoon

  • ๐Ÿง€ Cheddar cheese 1/4 cup (shredded)


๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ THE METHOD

Option A: Crunchy Celery Logs ๐Ÿงช

  1. ๐Ÿ”ช Use your Butter knife to cut the Celery stalks into 3-inch pieces (about the size of your finger).

  2. ๐Ÿง€ Scoop the Cheese spread or Peanut butter and fill the hollow "valley" of the celery.

  3. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Sprinkle a tiny bit of Paprika over the top so it looks like a fancy party snack!

Option B: Sweet & Sour Hot Spinach ๐Ÿฅฌ

  1. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Put your Small frying pan on the stove on Medium heat.

  2. ๐Ÿฅฌ Add the drained Canned spinach. Stir for 3 Minutes until it is hot.

  3. ๐ŸŽ Pour in the White vinegar and sprinkle the Sugar.

  4. ๐Ÿฅ„ Stir for 1 Minute more. The sugar and vinegar make the canned taste disappear!

Option C: Cheesy Asparagus Spears ๐Ÿงช

  1. ๐Ÿฅฃ Place the drained Canned asparagus in a Microwave-safe bowl.

  2. ๐Ÿฅ› Add the Evaporated milk, Margarine, and Cheddar cheese on top of the vegetables.

  3. โณ Put the bowl in the microwave for 1 Minute.

  4. ๐Ÿงค Use your Oven mitt to take the bowl out. Stir the melted cheese into a smooth sauce over the asparagus.


๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ SAFETY FIRST

  • ๐Ÿงค Hot Steam: When you take the Asparagus out of the microwave, hot steam will rise. Keep your face back from the bowl!

  • ๐Ÿ”ช Celery Strings: Celery can be tough. If it is hard to bite, ask a "kitchen helper" to peel the outside strings off with a vegetable peeler.

  • ๐Ÿฅฌ Draining Cans: Always pour the liquid from the Spinach and Asparagus cans into the sink first. Canned vegetables taste much better when they aren't swimming in their old water!
