  • ๐Ÿฅ„ 1 Large stirring spoon or Spatula

  • ๐Ÿ›น 1 Cutting board & Knife

  • ๐Ÿงค 1 Oven mitt

๐Ÿ›’ THE INGREDIENTS

  • ๐Ÿฅฉ Halal Flank Steak 1 lb (3/4 kg), sliced very thin against the grain

  • ๐ŸŒฝ Cornstarch 1/4 cup (to coat the beef)

  • ๐Ÿบ Cooking Oil 1/3 cup (for shallow frying)

  • ๐Ÿง„ Garlic 2 cloves (minced)

  • ๐Ÿ  Fresh Ginger 1 teaspoon (grated)

  • ๐Ÿถ Soy Sauce 1/2 cup (Low-sodium/Halal-certified)

  • ๐ŸคŽ Brown Sugar 1/2 cup (to thicken and sweeten)

  • ๐Ÿ’ง Water or Beef Broth 1/2 cup

  • ๐ŸŒพ Warm White Rice 2 cups (cooked and ready to serve)

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ THE METHOD

  1. ๐Ÿฅฉ Place the sliced Halal Beef into a Small bowl. Toss it with the Cornstarch until every piece is white and coated.

  2. ๐Ÿฅฃ In a separate bowl, mix the Soy Sauce, Brown Sugar, and Water.

  3. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Put your Frying pan on the stove and turn the heat to Medium-High. Add the Cooking Oil.

  4. ๐Ÿฅฉ Use your Oven mitt to hold the pan handle. Carefully place the beef into the hot oil.

  5. โฒ๏ธ Fry the beef for 2 Minutes on each side until the edges look Golden and crispy.

  6. ๐Ÿฅ„ Use your Stirring spoon to scoop the beef onto a clean plate. Pour out most of the oil, leaving just a little bit.

  7. ๐Ÿง„ Add the Garlic and Ginger to the pan. Stir for 30 Seconds until it smells amazing.

  8. ๐Ÿถ Pour the Soy Sauce mix into the pan. Let it bubble and simmer for 2 Minutes until the sauce looks thick like syrup.

  9. ๐Ÿฅฉ Put the Golden beef back into the pan. Toss it quickly for 1 Minute so every piece is covered in sauce.

  10. ๐Ÿ›‘ Turn the stove dial to the Off position.

  11. ๐Ÿš Scoop the beef over your Warm Rice and enjoy!

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ SAFETY FIRST

  • ๐Ÿฅฉ Thin Slicing: To make the beef easy for a toddler or senior to chew, always slice against the grain (look for the lines in the meat and cut across them).

  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Hot Oil: The oil may pop when you add the starch-covered beef. Stand back and use a long-handled spoon to move the meat.

  • ๐Ÿงค Pan Weight: A heavy pan with hot sauce can be difficult to move. Always use an Oven mitt and two hands if you need to lift it.
