๐ฅ 2-MINUTE "CARROT CAKE" OATS ๐ฅ
A warm, veggie-boosted breakfast. High in Beta-Carotene, Fiber, and Iron.
๐ ๏ธ THE KIT
๐ฅฃ 1 Microwave-safe bowl
๐ฅ 1 Small spoon
๐ง 1 Fine grater (for the carrots)
๐งค 1 Oven mitt (the bowl gets hot!)
๐ THE INGREDIENTS
๐พ Quick Oats 1/4 cup (Certified Gluten-Free/Halal)
๐ง Filtered Water 1/2 cup (or enough to cover)
๐ฅ Finely Shredded Carrots 1โ2 tablespoons
๐ Raisins 1 teaspoon (Chopped for younger toddlers)
๐ฅ Unsweetened Almond or Coconut Milk 1โ2 tablespoons (Alkaline-friendly)
๐ 100% Pure Maple Syrup 1 teaspoon (An alkaline sweetener; use sparingly)
๐ค Ceylon Cinnamon 1 tiny pinch
๐จโ๐ณ THE METHOD
1. The Softening Phase (0โ2 Mins)
๐ฅฃ Combine: Place Oats, Water, Carrots, and Raisins in the microwave-safe bowl.
Pro Tip: Adding the raisins and carrots before microwaving allows them to "plump up" and soften in the boiling water, making them much safer and easier for a toddler to chew.
๐ฅ Microwave: Heat on high for 1 Minute. Let it sit for 30 seconds inside the microwave to finish steaming.
2. The Creamy Finish (2โ4 Mins)
๐ฅ Stir: Carefully remove the bowl (it will be hot!). Stir in the Milk, Maple Syrup, and Cinnamon.
๐ง Cooling: The oats will be very dense and hold heat. Spread the oatmeal thin across the bottom of the bowl or a flat plate to help it reach a safe "toddler temperature" faster.
๐ก๏ธ PEDIATRIC SAFETY FIRST
๐ฆท The "Sticky" Hazard: Raisins are highly nutritious but can stick to the grooves of a toddler's molars, which can contribute to tooth decay. Chopping the raisins before cooking and ensuring your toddler drinks water after the meal helps rinse away the natural sugars.
๐ฅ Texture Check: For infants (6โ10 months), use the smallest holes on your grater for the carrots so they "melt" into the oats. For older toddlers (12 months+), a standard shred provides a great "chew" practice.
๐ Sweetener Guardrail: While maple syrup is more alkaline than white sugar, the World Health Organization recommends limiting added sugars for children under 2. Feel free to swap the syrup for a tablespoon of the Mango Puree we made earlier for a 100% fruit-sweetened version.
