๐น 1 Cutting board & Knife
๐ฅ 1 Baking sheet or oven-safe dish
๐ธ Aluminum Foil (to lock in the steam)
๐งค 1 Oven mitt
๐ฅ 1 Large spoon
๐ THE INGREDIENTS
๐ฅฆ Fresh Broccoli 1 large head (cut into bite-sized florets)
๐บ Olive Oil 1 tablespoon (Halal-friendly healthy fat)
๐ง Water 2 tablespoons (to create the steam)
๐ง Garlic Powder 1/2 teaspoon
๐ง Sea Salt 1 small pinch
๐ Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon (to keep it alkaline)
๐จโ๐ณ THE METHOD
๐ฅ Preheat your oven to 200ยฐC (400ยฐF).
๐ฅฆ Use your Knife and Cutting board to chop the Broccoli into small pieces. Keep the stems short so they cook as fast as the tops.
๐ฅ Place the Broccoli on your Baking sheet.
๐บ Drizzle the Olive Oil, Garlic Powder, and Sea Salt over the greens.
๐ฅ Use your Large spoon to toss the broccoli until every piece is shiny with oil.
๐ง Pour the 2 tablespoons of Water onto the bottom of the pan.
๐ธ Cover the entire pan with Aluminum Foil. Press the edges down tight so no air can get out.
โฒ๏ธ Use your Oven mitt to put the pan in the oven. Bake for 10 to 12 Minutes.
๐งค Carefully remove the pan. Lift one corner of the Foil away from your face to let the steam escape.
๐ Squeeze the Lemon Juice over the top.
๐ฅฉ Add the hot broccoli directly into your Mongolian Beef pan or serve it on the side with your Warm Rice.
๐ Turn the oven dial to the Off position.
๐ก๏ธ SAFETY FIRST
๐จ Steam Burn: This is the biggest risk! When you peel back the Aluminum Foil, a cloud of very hot steam will rush out. Always use an Oven mitt and pull the foil away from your body.
๐ช Stem Safety: Broccoli stems are round and can roll. Cut the head in half first so you can lay it flat on the Cutting board before chopping the florets.
๐ฆท The "Fork-Tender" Test: For a toddler or senior, press a fork into the thickest part of the stem. If it doesn't go in like butter, put the foil back on and bake for 3 more minutes.
