🥣 TOFU SCRAMBLE & PINCER GRASP BOWL 🥣
A 5-minute, high-protein breakfast designed for sensory play and motor skill development.
🛠️ THE KIT
🍳 1 Small non-stick frying pan
🥄 1 Silicone spatula
🌊 1 Wavy/Crinkle cutter (for the banana)
🛹 1 Cutting board
🥣 1 Toddler suction bowl
🛒 THE INGREDIENTS
🧊 Firm Tofu 1/2 cup (crumbled by hand)
🥛 Unsweetened Almond Milk 2 tablespoons (Halal certified)
💛 Turmeric Powder 1 tiny pinch (for natural "egg" color and anti-inflammatory benefits)
🍌 Ripe Banana 1/2 piece
🌾 Plain Toasted O-Rings 1/4 cup (Low-sugar, whole grain cereal)
🏺 Coconut Oil 1 teaspoon
👨🍳 THE METHOD
1. The 3-Minute Scramble (0–3 Mins)
🥘 Crumble: Use your clean fingers to crumble the Tofu into small, curd-like pieces into a bowl.
🥛 Whisk: Stir in the Almond Milk and Turmeric. This creates a moist, soft texture that mimics scrambled eggs.
🔥 Sizzle: Heat Coconut Oil in the frying pan over Medium heat.
⏲️ Cook: Add the tofu mixture and stir gently for 2 Minutes until warmed through and the milk has mostly absorbed. 🛑 Turn the stove Off.
2. Sensory Shaping (3–5 Mins)
🌊 The Wavy Banana: On your Cutting board, use the Wavy cutter to slice the Banana into long sticks (about 5cm).
Nutritional Note: The ridges created by the wavy cutter make the slippery banana much easier for a toddler to grip, reducing frustration for picky eaters.
🥣 The Bowl Setup: Place the soft scramble on one side, the ridged banana sticks in the middle, and the O-Rings on the other side.
🛡️ PEDIATRIC SAFETY FIRST
🤏 Pincer Grasp Practice: The O-Rings are specifically included to help toddlers transition from the "palmar grasp" (using the whole hand) to the "pincer grasp" (using thumb and forefinger). Only provide a few at a time to prevent "shoveling."
🦷 Soft Texture: Tofu is naturally softer than overcooked eggs, making it a safer option for toddlers who might struggle with the "rubbery" texture of traditional scrambles.
🥣 Choking Prevention: If your toddler is under 14 months or still learning to chew, you can soak the O-Rings in a little almond milk for 1 minute to soften them before serving.
