π₯ ZESTY MANGO MASH π₯
A high-antioxidant, "golden" fruit puree. Naturally sweet with a refreshing citrus finish.
π οΈ THE KIT
πͺοΈ 1 High-speed blender (or food processor)
π 1 Small citrus juicer
π₯£ 1 Small mixing bowl
π§ 1 Silicone freezer tray (for 1oz portions)
π THE INGREDIENTS
π₯ Frozen Organic Mango 1 cup (Thawed)
π Fresh Lime Juice 1/2 teaspoon (Freshly squeezed)
π§ Filtered Water 1β2 tablespoons (only if needed for thinning)
πΏ Optional: 1 tiny pinch of Ground Ginger (for digestive support)
π¨βπ³ THE METHOD
1. The Thaw & Prep (0β5 Mins)
π§ Thaw: Place the Frozen Mango in a bowl at room temperature for 20 minutes, or quick-thaw in the fridge overnight.
Pro Tip: Use the juice that collects in the bowl during thawingβitβs packed with vitamins!
π Zest: Squeeze the Lime into a separate small cup to ensure no seeds fall into your puree.
2. The Golden Blend (5β8 Mins)
πͺοΈ Combine: Place the thawed mango and Lime Juice into the blender.
π Pulse: Blend on high for 30β45 seconds. Frozen mango can be "stringy" due to its natural fibers; blending on high ensures a velvety, safe texture for younger infants.
π₯£ Adjust: If the puree is too thick, add Water or a splash of Coconut Water (highly alkaline) one tablespoon at a time.
3. The Portion Freeze (8β10 Mins)
π§ Tray: Spoon the puree into your Silicone freezer tray.
β²οΈ Set: Freeze for 4 hours, then pop the "mango cubes" into a freezer bag. This allows you to pull out exactly 1 or 2 ounces at a time for a quick snack or meal topper.
π‘οΈ PEDIATRIC SAFETY FIRST
π Citrus Sensitivity: While lime is excellent for flavor, some infants may develop a mild "contact rash" around the mouth from the acidity of citrus. If your baby has sensitive skin, start with just 2β3 drops of lime juice.
π¦· Natural Sugars: Mango is high in natural fructose. To keep your toddlerβs energy levels stable (and protect their developing teeth), pair this puree with a protein or fat, such as a dollop of Greek Yogurt or a sprinkle of Hemp Seeds.
π§ The "Slushie" Hazard: If the mango is not fully thawed before blending, it can create an icy "slushie" texture. For babies under 12 months, ensure the puree is at room temperature to avoid a cold-sensitivity gag reflex.
